TDHC 100,000th Visitor

The Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre, located on the site of the original whiskey distillery in Tullamore, Co Offaly, received its 100,000th paying visitor in September - making it one of Ireland’s most successful attractions.

By sheer serendipity, the celebrated visitor, Stefan Anklam, was from Germany - Tullamore Dew’s most successful export market.

In addition to showing the history of Tullamore Dew, first distilled in 1829, and Irish Mist Irish whiskey liqueur which was launched there in 1947, the Centre is a living museum of the town’s industrial past.

The past has now come full circle. Over 175 years ago, much of the town’s wealth came from the distillery and the Grand Canal that runs immediately alongside it - connecting Tullamore with Dublin and beyond. Today, the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre on the banks of the canal is again attracting worldwide interest and revenue to the area.
